Welcome to the Reiki Pure and Simple Website

My name is Linda Thornally. After many years of teaching all levels of Reiki I would like to announce my retirement. It has been a great privilege and joy. I would like to thank everyone who has crossed my path and enriched my life.

The purpose of this site is to offer a reference point for those looking into the background of Reiki and guidance about looking for training and treatments.

What is Reiki?
Reiki is a light touch energy system. Its purpose is to create wholeness and wellbeing. During a treatment a practitioner hands are placed lightly on or over the body focusing on the meridians, endocrine and chakra systems, transmuting negative energy, releasing blockages and aligning the energy centres within the body. This allows a more natural flow of energy assisting the body to naturally heal itself. Mikao Usui, of Japan, founded this system in the mid 1800s, through the study of Taoist Qigong, Tendai and Shinto Buddhism and Chinese oriental medicine.

How can Reiki help me?
Reiki balances the body's energies, promotes a feeling of well-being, loosens blocked energy, increases vitality and cleanses the body of toxins. It encourages healing on all levels - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual and can be used as a powerful transformation tool to aid personal self-development. It allows you to experience total relaxation when you feel stressed or pressured. It can help relieve pain and speed up the healing process of physical problems such as injuries and operations. It can empower you to make positive changes in your life in areas such as work, home and relationships. See Benefits for further information.

Where is Reiki being used?
Reiki is being used in private practice, complementary therapy centres, GP surgeries, hospitals, hospices, cancer support groups, post-operative recovery, drug rehabilitation, prisons, HIV/AIDS centres, in the care of the elderly, and in stress relief programmes.
